Silence also has a scent – What the mountains taught me

There are mornings when the world's noise somehow stays further away. As if the morning mist not only covers the landscape but also forms a protective shield around us, allowing us to turn inward. It is at such times that I realize that the most important stories of our lives are not written in loud successes, but in these quiet moments.

The aromas of remembrance

The other day, I came across an old notebook, and as I opened it, a peculiar, woody, slightly earthy scent wafted up. It immediately transported me back to the mountains. It's interesting how closely our minds connect feelings with scents. A drop of pine oil or the smell of earth after fresh rain can relieve tension within us and remind us: nature has its own rhythm that cannot be rushed.

In the mountains, I learned that patience does not mean waiting, but trust. Trust that every difficulty on the uphill path brings us closer to ourselves.

The invisible presence

Many of you have asked how to maintain authenticity in a world where everyone shows perfection. I believe the answer lies in the small details. In the way a child's laughter fills the room during a shared game, or how we listen to each other during dinner conversation.

In our family, these moments often intertwine with scents – a comforting lavender for bedtime stories, or an energizing citrus when I start a new chapter. These invisible threads are what truly hold us together.

"The soul does not need words to open up; sometimes, a familiar scent or a deep breath of fresh air is enough."

Food for thought for you

When was the last time you just stopped, aimlessly? When your mind wasn't on the next task, but you just let your senses guide you?

I suggest that today, you find a scent that calms you, and spend five minutes doing nothing. Just be present. Because just as the mountain doesn't let go, the soul also craves attention.
